The St. Louis Cardinals 2017 season is getting down to the wire and they’re hitting their stride. A 9th inning comeback win against the Pittsburgh Pirates dominate closer on Friday put the Birds at a season high 9 games over .500.

The Cardinals win and the Brewers loss to the Cubs moved the Birds into second in the NL Central. They currently sit a half game up on Milwaukee with 3 to play against the Brewers to close out the season.

The Rockies are battling the Padres in San Diego1. A Padres win would put the Cardinals a half game back of Colorado with the Cardinals owning the extra game. A Rockies win would leave the Cardinals 1 out.

The addition of Juan Nicasio has helped the Cardinals considerably as he’s taken over as the closer in place of the ineffective Oh and the injured Rosenthal. Now we just have to find a loop hole to get him on a potential playoff roster.

One thing is for sure. Things are going to be interesting down the stretch.

Around the Horn

Todd Gurley is looking more like St. Louis Todd Gurley and added 3 more touchdowns on Thursday to match his season total from 2016. He hurdled two defenders last Sunday against Washington. I want the Rams to lose but Gurley and Donald to play well.

Speaking of the Rams. The NFL is still pretending like they never played in St. Louis. Their Rams All-Time team didn’t feature a single St. Louis player. Unless you count Greg Zuerlein. But who counts kickers.

The Ringer did a good job summing up how St. Louis feels about the Rams.

This hit the Detroit Lions delivered to Eli Manning on Monday night are the types of hits causing parents to keep their kids out of football.
