NFL Picks Championship Round + Super Bowl Preview Update

The AFC Championship is going to feature Blake Bortles vs Tom Brady with a potentially dislocated finger on his throwing had. While the NFC Championship is a battle between former quarterbacks that led the Jeff Fisher Rams.

Quarterback play is going to be on full display. Just kidding. It’s gonna be terrible. But we’re here to help you sift through all the crap and find out which teams are going to battle in the Super Bowl. And who will win it all.

AFC Championship

Jacksonville Jaguars (+9) @ New England Patriots (-9)

Jason (4-4): Original Pick – New England Patriots

Sticking with them: If the Jaguars defense that showed up in most of the regular season shows up they could keep it tight enough to where a big play swings the game. If the defense that gave up 42 to the Steelers shows up they’re going to lose. My heart wants the Jaguars to win. My brain knows the Patriots probably will. The world isn’t fair.

Sticking with them: It pains me.

Tim (4-4): Original Pick – New England Patriots

Sticking with them: I still cannot believe how easy the road has been for the Patriots. Mariota, then Bortles, and then either Keenum or Foles standing between them and the Super Bowl. Jacksonville has been talking a lot of smack this week, despite not really accomplishing all that much. I could see Belichik running the score up a bit in this one.

David (1-7): Original Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers

Updated: It’d be hilarious if Bortles beats Brady. It’s definitely not going to happen, but what the hell right? The Jaguars are young and cocky. If they make less mistakes and turnovers, they’ve got a shot?

NFC Championship

Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) @ Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5)

Jason (4-4): Original Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Sticking with them: The Vikings left way too much time on the clock for Drew Brees to only need a field goal last week. Luckily they got a miracle touchdown as time expired. And in the NFC Championship they get Nick Foles and the Eagles. I expect a low scoring game, but have more faith in Keenum than Foles to get the job done on offense.

Steve (4-4): Original Picks – Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints

Updated: I think this one is going to be an open and shut CASE!

Tim (4-4): Original Pick – New Orleans Saints

Updated: Nick Foles played pretty good last week against the Falcons, but he’s in for a tougher test this week. The Falcons ranked 12th in the league in passing defense during the year. The Vikings ranked 2nd.

Updated: Hard to believe that Nick Foles or Case Keenum will start a Super Bowl game. I feel like in this situation, we’re all losers. Going with the home field advantage here, especially since the only reason why the Vikings are in this game is because of 1 single poor tackling decision.

Super Bowl LII Champion

Jason (4-4): Original Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Sticking with them: It’s going to take a big game by the Vikings defense to hold the Patriots in check. But the NFC has seemed the stronger conference this year. I think the Vikings are a complete enough team to take the Patriots down.

Updated: The Steve Seal of Death.

Tim (4-4): Original Pick – New England Patriots

Sticking with them: The Vikings appear to be the team of destiny after last week’s miracle, but many times the team of destiny doesn’t quite finish the job. Minnesota’s game ending touchdown last week reminded me of Auburn in 2014 taking back the missed field goal for a touchdown to beat Alabama. However, they ended up losing in the championship a few weeks later. I don’t think the Vikings will have enough luck left to take down Tawmy, Gronk and the Pats.

Updated: Well I feel the Jaguars have something that neither of the remaining teams have. A solid run game. So that will help them control the clock and the ball. Granted, they do have Blake Bortles (fantasy team!) and people seem to hate on him so I’ll passive aggressively do that now. Their defense should be able to keep up with the passing games of all the remaining teams, as long as they play smart.
