Notes From The Pine: Home Cooking with Adam Wainwright

Adam Wainwright has been having an up and down season. At times he has been great. Other times he has been awful.

Adam is still getting wins. He’s 11-5 to Carlos Martinez’s 6-8. Despite an ERA 2 runs higher (5.08 to 3.36). Thanks in part to leading all pitchers (min, 20 PA) in slugging (.444) and RBIs (10). Fun fact: Carlos is second in RBIs with 7. Continue reading “Notes From The Pine: Home Cooking with Adam Wainwright”

The Cardinals Won Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS 10 Years Ago

Ten years ago today, the Cardinals won game 7 of the NLCS on the back of a Yadi Molina bomb in the 9th and a Waino curveball to close it out.

The St. Louis Cardinals took on the Colorado Rockies over this weekend, and the series was hallmarked by great starting pitching. The Cardinals bullpen didn’t even make an appearance until game 3. Which also marked the Rockies first baserunner to reach third base. At one point, before Adam Wainwright issued a walk to Todd Helton in the 5th inning of game 2, Shelby and Waino had combined to sit down 40 straight Rockies.

Shelby essentially threw a perfect 27 outs after the Rockies leadoff man reached on a bloop broken single. He struck out 13, mostly with a fastball hanging around 94-95 mph. His first two strikeouts of the game were on nearly identical pitches freezing batters on both sides of the plate. This Weekend In St. Louis Sports In GIFS – 4/14/13

The Cardinals weekend went slightly better than the Blues, as the Birds took 2 of 3 from the Brewers and saw their consecutive scoreless innings streak reach 39 before Rosey gave up a 2-run shot to Braun. Then of course, Boggs couldn’t get it together after a bloop single to start the 9th. The Blues lost both weekend match-ups, dumping out against Columbus before losing to Chicago in a game where Elliot’s scoreless streak was snapped at 214 minutes. But it all started with Ryan Braun forgetting to keep running. On to the gifs. Continue reading “This Weekend In St. Louis Sports In GIFS – 4/14/13”
