Notes From The Pine: Home Cooking with Adam Wainwright

Adam Wainwright has been having an up and down season. At times he has been great. Other times he has been awful.

Adam is still getting wins. He’s 11-5 to Carlos Martinez’s 6-8. Despite an ERA 2 runs higher (5.08 to 3.36). Thanks in part to leading all pitchers (min, 20 PA) in slugging (.444) and RBIs (10). Fun fact: Carlos is second in RBIs with 7. Continue reading “Notes From The Pine: Home Cooking with Adam Wainwright”

The Cardinals Won Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS 10 Years Ago

Ten years ago today, the Cardinals won game 7 of the NLCS on the back of a Yadi Molina bomb in the 9th and a Waino curveball to close it out.

So let’s go back to a simpler time, when the Cubs still sucked and everything was right with the world.

I’m feeling better already. Continue reading “The Cardinals Won Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS 10 Years Ago”

Game 044: Talking Smart Things

The PineCast is one year old! We’ve been doing this little shindig for fun one most weeks for the last year. We’ve gotten much better over time. So good in fact we didn’t even bother putting together notes for this episode!

On the latest podcast the guys break down the Super Bowl and its commercials. Or at least what they remember from it. Listen as they piece together the events that led to Peyton Manning kissing Papa John and talking about downing Diesels from a booze soaked haze.

We also reveal our picks for starting pitchers on our All 2000s St. Louis Cardinals team. Which just leaves one more episode to round things out with closer.

You have to listen. It’s our birthday!

Game 024 – What About Koz?

The whole podcast crew is finally back together. Steve and Jason talk about their recent trip to the Oddball Comedy Festival in Chicago and random movies they’ve watched. But don’t worry there is still plenty of St. Louis sports coverage. We’ll break down the Cardinals winning road trip and how well we predicted the current playoff picture before the season. Then we’ll break down the St. Louis Rams after their third preseason game and tell you what to expect from the Wide Receivers and Secondary this season. All that and more on The PineCast.

Game 011 – Birds Trippin’

After a road trip to follow the Birds up north, the guys return to the PineCast relatively healthy after nursing their hangovers with rest and a return trip to Busch Stadium. Though the same can’t be said for the Cardinals after losing ace Adam Wainwright to a torn achilles, or the Blues playoff hopes after that turd of a postseason run. Grab some pine and join us for the latest episode of The PineCast!

Game 006 – Waino’s World

On this episode of The PineCast, Steve, Jason, and David are joined by Clayton from Jupiter-ish, Florida to discuss the latest Cardinals Spring Training news. We help you Better Know Adam Wainwright. Break down the St. Louis Blues recent 6 game road trip. Drop a little knowledge on Stan Kroenke’s latest California stadium plan. And one up our March Madness picks from last week by guaranteeing who will be in the Elite Eight. Find out on this week’s episode of The PineCast.

Better Know a Cardinal – Adam Wainwright

Adam Wainwright is easily the biggest name we’ve covered to date in our Better Know a Cardinal series. That doesn’t mean you can’t better know him. For example, did you know Waino held #3 hitters to a .188 average and 1 homerum in 101 at bats in 2014. No? Well then buckle up, because you’re about to Better Know Adam Wainwright!

Nickname: Waino

Game 005 – Bacon Wrapped Edition

Welcome back to another enthralling episode of The PineCast. As March Madness approaches we give you the hottest tips on who is poised to make a run deep into the tourney after pouring minutes over our brackets.

We go in depth on the biggest battles as the Cardinals enter their 3rd-ish week in Spring Training. Jason continues to pitch the 6-man rotation much to the chagrin of Steve and David.

We’ve also got plenty of coverage on the Rams and their two Nicks with the signing of Nick Fairley.

Finally we’ve got the first edition of Who’s the Better Brother trivia question where David pits Steve and Jason in a battle of who knows the most about sports movies.

Will the we survive our battle with Little Caesars’ Bacon Wrapped Deep Dish pizza? Find out now on a fresh new episode of The PineCast.

The Weekends Dominant Starts of Shelby Miller and Adam Wainwright

The St. Louis Cardinals took on the Colorado Rockies over this weekend, and the series was hallmarked by great starting pitching. The Cardinals bullpen didn’t even make an appearance until game 3. Which also marked the Rockies first baserunner to reach third base. At one point, before Adam Wainwright issued a walk to Todd Helton in the 5th inning of game 2, Shelby and Waino had combined to sit down 40 straight Rockies.

Shelby essentially threw a perfect 27 outs after the Rockies leadoff man reached on a bloop broken single. He struck out 13, mostly with a fastball hanging around 94-95 mph. His first two strikeouts of the game were on nearly identical pitches freezing batters on both sides of the plate. This Weekend In St. Louis Sports In GIFS – 4/14/13

The Cardinals weekend went slightly better than the Blues, as the Birds took 2 of 3 from the Brewers and saw their consecutive scoreless innings streak reach 39 before Rosey gave up a 2-run shot to Braun. Then of course, Boggs couldn’t get it together after a bloop single to start the 9th. The Blues lost both weekend match-ups, dumping out against Columbus before losing to Chicago in a game where Elliot’s scoreless streak was snapped at 214 minutes. But it all started with Ryan Braun forgetting to keep running. On to the gifs. Continue reading “This Weekend In St. Louis Sports In GIFS – 4/14/13”
