The View From The Pine Super Bowl LII Preview: After the Wildcard Round

Formerly Terrible Rams QBs now in the playoffs

As the playoffs progress we’ll be revising our Super Bowl picks each week. Things stayed relatively in tact this week, but with the byes out of the way we’ll see how that effects next week.

Who Makes it Out of the AFC

David (Original Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers)

Updated: Because they just have too much offensive talent in comparison to the other teams left in the AFC.

Tim (Original Pick: New England Patriots)

Sticking with them: Without playing a game, the chances of the Patriots winning the AFC got way better. Andy Reid did Andy Reid things, and the Chiefs blew a huge lead to the Titans. I thought the Chiefs would be the one team out the AFC to give the Pats a game. Not a chance the Titans pull this upset, and then it’s only Blake Bortles, or Pittsburgh standing in their way.

Jason (Original Pick: New England Patriots)

Sticking with them: The Titans and Jaguars did nothing to rattle my confidence that the Patriots will move on to the Super Bowl. Despite all this internal turmoil ESPN is reporting from behind the scenes.

Steve (Original Pick:New England Patriots)

Sticking with them: My reverse psychology pick had no effect since the Pats had a bye, but now that the Rams are out of it, I can focus all of my bad mojo onto them.

Who Makes it Out of the NFC

David (Original Pick: New Orleans Saints)

Sticking with them: Drew Brees and the running back tandem is just too good. If they’re defense can hold these teams to 20 points or less, they’ll be just fine.

Tim (Original Pick: New Orleans Saints)

Sticking with them: I’m not as confident in the Saints as I was last week, but I’ll stick with them. What was Sean Payton thinking going for it on 4th down last week? But with the 4 quarterbacks remaining, I have the most confidence in Brees. And despite Payton’s questionable 4th down gamble, he looks like a genius compared to all the boneheaded decisions Dan Quinn made last week against the Rams. Who kicks an extra point when you’re up 12?

Jason (Original Pick: Minnesota Vikings)

Sticking with them: The Falcons could pose a legitimate threat here. But going on the road and winning 3 times in the playoffs is a tough task.

Steve (Original Pick: Los Angeles Rams)

Updated: I think Brees finds a way.

Your Super Bowl LII Champion

David (Original Pick: New Orleans Saints)

Sticking with them: For reasons from my first time picking them. Powerful offense with a solid defense. Brees’ experience and Sean Payton’s coaching will go a long way. Vikings have a great defense but a weird QB situation. Eagles without Wentz aren’t as scary even with Foles looking decent. Other guys just don’t have good defenses in my eyes.

Tim (Original Pick: New England Patriots)

Sticking with them: Belichick wins his 6th Super Bowl to match Nick Saban’s 6th championship….I like football less and less each day.

Jason (Original Pick: Minnesota Vikings)

Sticking with them: Come back and ask me next week how confident I am in Case Keenum winning a Super Bowl.

Steve (Original Pick: Los Angeles Rams)

Updated: Saints v. Belichick and the demon horde that is the New England Patriots.
