Cardinals Wind Up With Another Rookie Pitcher. Wacha Wacha!

After their latest rookie pitcher blew a Gast-ket (Wacha Wacha), the St. Louis Cardinals have called up another pitcher to take over the Lyons-share (Wacha Wacha) of innings left by injuries while Carpenter builds (Wacha Wacha) himself up to return to the field.

Sorry, those were awful. I’d promise not to do it again, but that is a promise I simply cannot keep. Much like Mozeliak’s couldn’t keep his promise to bury Wacha in AAA until they could push his arbitration eligibility back a little farther. I mean that’s complete speculation, but it makes sense because everyone seems to believe Michael Wacha is going to have to get paid once he’s had some time in the bigs.

The guys over at Viva El Birdos aren’t so sure about Wacha’s “sure-thing” status right now.

Mozeliak is trying to dampen expectations in The Post-Dispatch too:

“We just have to manage expectations a little bit. He’s a year removed from college and he’s thrust into a very competitive division with a lot of expectations being put on him, and I don’t know how fair that’s going to be.”

If Wacha is able to continue the success that, essentially, all the Cardinals’ rookies have pitched with this season I think the Birds will be just fine. All we have left to do is Oscar-selves one last thing, “Who will the Cardinals call up next?”*

*See I told you I couldn’t stop. That one was particularly awful.
